Good design is innovative.

It does not copy existing product forms, nor does it produce any kind of novelty just for the sake of it. The essence of innovation must be clearly seen in all of a product’s functions. Current technological development keeps offering new chances for innovative solutions.

Good design makes a product useful.

The product is bought or used in order to be used. It must serve a defined purpose — in both primary and additional functions. The most important task of design is to optimize the utility of a product’s usability.

Good design is aesthetic.

The aesthetic quality of a product is integral to its usefulness because products we use every day affect our well-being. But only well-executed objects can be beautiful.

Good design helps us to understand a product.

It clarifies the product’s structure. Better still, it can make the product talk. At best, it is self-explanatory.

Good design is unobtrusive.

Products fulfilling a purpose are like tools. They are neither decorative objects nor works of art. Their design should therefore be both neutral and restrained, to leave room for the user’s self-expression.

Good design is honest.

It does not make a product more innovative, powerful or valuable than it normally is. It does not attempt to manipulate the consumer with promises that cannot be kept.

Good design has longevity.

It does not follow trends that become outdated after a short time. Well designed products differ significantly from short-lived trivial products in today’s throwaway society.

Good design is consequent to the last detail.

Nothing must be arbitrary. Thoroughness and accuracy in the design process shows respect toward the user.

Good design is concerned with the environment.

Design must make contributions toward a stable environment and sensible raw material situation. This does not only include actual pollution, but also visual pollution and destruction of our environment.

Good design is as little design as possible.

Less is better — because it concentrates on the essential aspects and the products are not burdened with non-essentials. Back to purity, back to simplicity!

제가 좋아하는 그는 시대를 초월해서
많은 디자이너들에게 영감을 주는것같습니다.

Dieter Rams 책 구하고싶은데

내가 그랬잖아. 나도 운전할수있다고,
너가 굳이 버스를 타자고했던건 나의 운전실력을 무시해서는 아닐꺼야.
지금 배가 남산만한 너는 결국
7년간의사연 많았던 현욱이와 결혼을 했지-

나중에 널 닮은 주니어와 함께 또 오자

우리 27살
참 예뻤다 그치?

엄마가 아프다.
몇년동안 지독하게 고생시키던 눈물샘을 결국 뚫어버리는 수술을 진행하셨다.

나는 바쁘다.
사실 그렇게 바쁘지않다.
올필요없으니 하던일 계속하라는 강한 정신력을 가진 엄마의 배려때문이라는 변명으로 문병한번 가지않았다.
나는 뛰어난 디자이너가 될거라는 헛소리에 모든 가족은 배려한다.

그렇게 퇴원을 하시고, 집에 오시는날저녁
나는 역시나 바쁘지않으면서
팀원들과 누가 누구의 뒷다마를 깠다느니, 누가 디자인을 못한다느니,
해결나지도 않는 불평불만에 술잔을 기울인다.

술잔안에 고인 술이 꼭 우리엄마의 뚫린 눈물샘의 눈물같아서
순간 우울해져버렸다.
그냥 그뿐이다.

웃어야겠다.
웃고
또 모니터를 보련다.

제스퍼아저씨와 스패뉴에서 와인과 식사를하게되었다.
와인 고르는 방법도 정말 디자이너스러운 제스퍼아저씨.

내나이 29살.
디자인에 기뻐하고, 디자인에 속상하고, 디자인에 실망해서
미치도록 도망치고 싶었던 힘든 작년을 보낸
내나이 29살, 여성디자이너.

아저씨의 29살 디자인은 어땠냐는 질문을했다.
정확하게 기억하고있다며,
자신의 이름을 건 사무실을 오픈했다고했다.
그곳엔 단지 팩스머신 하나만 있었으며(컴도없이)
그것은 글로벌한 컨택을 실시간으로 유지해줬던 고마운 기계였다고.

생각해보면 세상이 창조되는 방법은 의외로 간단한데 있는지도 모른다.

새하얀 벽 아래에 있는 불은 더 강렬한 생명력을 뿜어내고
그불에 녹아버릴것같은 타이어는 말이되어 흔들거린다..
가장 극한 상황에서의 최고의 긴장감은 오히려 편안함을 주는것같다.

루어 낚시

이미 철이 지나버리면
잠바껴입고, 바지 접어올리고, 내할수있는 최선의 노력을다한후
얼음장처럼 차가운 물에 들어간다해도
물고기는 절대 잡히지 않는다.

굳이 잡아야할 필요는 없지만
내가 이정도 공을 들이고
시간을 할애했는데 안잡히면
슬슬 화가나기 시작한다.
그럼 어느순간
내가 이것을 꼭해야한다고 믿기시작한다.

사실 안해도되고
다음에 해도되고
사먹으면 되는건데.

문자란 참 편리하다.
상대방의 의지완 상관없이 내의견을 실시간으로 전달할수있고,
기록으로 남을수도있다.
그래서 무섭기도하지만..-_-;;

저런 귀신같은 머리를 하고있었다니..
목에 땀띠 안난게 참 다행이다.
